Tour de France Victory Party

Nebraska Cycling Fans Invited To Watch Lance Make It Seven Straight

July 19, 2005—Lance Armstrong hasn’t crossed the finish line on the Champs Elysees in Paris just yet, but plans for a victory party here in Nebraska are already in place.
Nebraskacycling.org, Nebraska's online cycling resource, is hosting a pair of events for fans to cheer Armstrong on as he rides to his seventh consecutive Tour win. Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in Omaha and Lincoln will show CBS’ coverage of the final day of the Tour on their big screens from 1 to 2 p.m. this Sunday, July 24. Both parties run from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and feature prize giveaways and trivia contests.

Event co-organizers John Lefler, Jr., of ChannelONE Marketing and Sean Weide of Team Kaos, said the victory party gives cycling fans a chance to enjoy the camaraderie of spectator sports normally reserved for football or basketball.

“Armstrong's accomplishments on and off the bike are staggering," Lefler said. “This is a great way for cycling enthusiasts to show support and celebrate one of the sport’s all-time greats.”

“Even the most casual of cycling fans is invited to join us,” Weide added. “This is a rare opportunity to mingle with cyclists of all abilities to get tips on riding and racing and learn more about the local history of the sport.”

The Omaha victory party takes place at the Buffalo Wild Wings at 205 North 76th Street. The Buffalo Wild Wings at 7301 South 27th Street will host the Lincoln celebration. No reservations are necessary
