Why NASCAR sucks and F1 doesn't

The drivers know how to turn right and they aren't afraid to race in the rain. SWEET! By the way, this guy will probably be world champ. Fernando Alonso. And he'll be the youngest world champ EVER! Posted by Picasa

Wow! I must have hit a nerve! Funny that the you would only bring up Gordon, since he wins all the road races in NASCAR. Probably the only one with legit talent. What about all the others? I don't need a six paragraph essay on the comparisons and differences of racing drivers. Racing drivers are racing drivers and most top level DH MTB racers that I would go to kart tracks with were seconds faster than the rest. It's a feel for the road thing.

Were you at Indy for the first USGP hearing people gasp in amazement that the cars were going out on a wet track? Throwing a 1200lb. car into corner at 100plus in the wet takes a bit of finesse and guts, regardless of driver aids. Not to mention OPEN WHEELS. You touch, the car launches.

Next years F1 V8's are already hitting 20,000rpms. And they still have 6 months of development to go. When you're only reving a 10,000 you can use pushrods, at 20,000 you can't.

But NASCAR still sucks compared to F1. If nothing else because the cars look way cooler, handle way better and if my memory serves me correct, can go from 0-60-0 in 4 seconds.

Oh, and one more thing, Alex Wurz, Mclaren test driver, co-owns a mountain bike company. How cool is that! Rainer-Wurz, austrian company, check it out some time.

I have to agree with MOD, F1 is way tougher, requiring more resources, knowledge, money, and TALENT. How many F1 drivers can come in off the street, rent a car, and finish in the top 10. Hmmm, crunk monk you better check June 26, because that is what Mr. Simo did in NASCAR. Rented a car, then tried to find sponsorship, and kicked ass. Oh yeah by the way he and Boris are road course specialist and they clean house for being relative nobody's and why. Because they have skills, road skills and when you put the rest of the left turn rednecks on a course and you have to turn right also, they forget what to do. What were you saying, about fundamental skills. My opinion NASCAR is only huge because American TV loves the soap opera of the fighting and rough driving. Heck it's the WWF on wheels. I am not even sure it isn't half rigged. When are they going to start wearing masks and capes? Heck comparing the skill of a NASCAR driver to an F1 driver is like saying a cyclocross racer has as much talent as a downhill racer. Whatever munk. And comparing Mario, a driver 40 years ago, with today's technology and equipement should not be done. He was great in his day, but a better comparison is when Michael A. tried to step up to F1 with pathetic results and decided to come back to US racing were he was still a big fish in the small pond. In out....
