More old school bikes
Photos a little blurry but here's some history for you newbies. Behold the Diamondback WCF. Which stands for Welded Carbon Fiber. Now, DB isn't exactly known as an innovative company but I have to give them some props whether the greater populus agrees or not. This bike is from about 1993. DB started bonding lightwieght carbon tubes into cromo lugs and welding the frames together. Hmmmm, nobody does that now, do they? Keep in mind this bike is over a decade old.
Now for you 29'r kids, DB also did a 700c wheel mountian bike at about the same time. Raced at the Cactus Cup by Dave Wiens. DB claimed the same benefits as todays 29'rs. At the time though, the biggest tire you could get was a 45c Panaracer Smoke. Marzocchi even made a fork for it.
Just had to give good 'ole Diamondback some props, they did a lot ahead of their time. But...marketing can make or break anything.

1991....i walk into bike peddlers, and guess what i walk out with.
Dat's right byotch....DB 700c. I used to air that sumbyotch out MX stylie. friggin wheels lasted about .... hhummmmmmm .... one week.
BK's got my back on this one. Yep....he used to make fun of me too because it had 700c.
Now...guess who sold it to me ???
You should have seen ol chaybo skiding up to my mom's place on the bad boy!
Straight out of MBA!
you still have that bike? if so bust out the photos!
bust out the photos anyway, I didn't sell it to you did I?
no pics of the purple beast MOD, the bike didn't last long in the stable as i was soon back into peddlers and trading that wobbly wheeled, bent fork bike in for a Scott Unitrack with Unishock...what a pogo stick. Voyles used to beat that thing senseless with a ball pin hammer trying to break those corroded steel springs free. Condensation from a harsh winter was brutal on that POS. Live and learn.
