Gravel Road Ride Anyone?

RF calls me tonight begging for Rusty's gravel road route thru the Crescent Alps north of CB. I couldn't standing his crying anymore so I let him in on the secret. It is a modified loop of the old UNO Cycling teams training ride back in the day when Kent was a sport rider. It is a great ride if you can fend off the farm dogs (oh yeah RF forgot to tell about the couple of Rotts, well hopefully you are faster than Hardcore Harlan)

Click here for a Topo version of the route (size 719Kb)

I have a few stories about that route. Steve W, Dave U and I mapped it out. Remember when Opie went off the railroad bridge and stuck head first in the soft bottom creek and Happe crashed and got a slab of rail road tie stuck in his thigh?

Those were the days! That ride made many quite riding with us. It is brutal when done at Wed night pace.

Anyone up for a shot at it sometime this winter?

I swear, when dogs chase me on my bike, I want to stop and start kicking some ass, but they'd definitely win.

Hey guys, I know the route and lets ride Sunday. It's about 35 miles with two or three good glimbs. One road is closed now by Hitchcock but there is a good route around it.

I'm leaving on that ride at 10am today, with hardcore harlan. Call me. Get my number from MOD.

I went out there last year, isn't most of it paved now?
