New Years Polo Festival

What other way to describe today other than a festival. We ended up having 4 teams of five. Close to 30 people when you toss in the spectators. Competition was fierce, cans and bottles were emptied, and elbows and knees were grass stained. I managed to block shots with both my ass and my forehead. Definitely a good time. Hopefully some FFL's can make it one of these Sundays. I mean if Shim can do it, anybody can!

RF brought the tunes and nursed his hangover, the rest of us just played hard. Funniest thing all day was watching GG sprint around with a grit pinched between his lips. We gotta get him off those things.

Found these rules on line, MIB pay specfic attention to #4. Great fun today. i am still bleeding.

Hitting The Ball

All players must play right handed. (Some day we will start a league for lefties, but until then we have to have everyone hitting from the same side.) The ball may only be intentionally struck by a mallet when the frame of the rider's bike has been parallel to the sideline for at least 21 feet (three bike lengths).

Right Of Way

A player's right-of-way must be respected! Right -of-way is established when one player has approached the ball on his or her right, with their bike positioned parallel to the sidelines at least 21 feet before striking (three bike lengths).

Veering

Veering occurs when a player fails to establish or maintain a position parallel to the sidelines before intentionally striking the ball. If veering is called the other team takes over from the spot of the infraction.

Contact

Intentional contact of any kind with an opposing player or bike is illegal!

Foot Position

A players foot must remain on or in the pedals at all times. If a player's foot touches the ground, that player must clear the field of play by crossing out-of-bounds at the nearest point and then return to action. A player may not hit the ball while his or her foot is on the ground.

Start Of Play

Each chukkar is started by a "joust" A joust is when one player designated by his/her respective team, sets-up in the goal to sprint to a ball placed at the center of the field. The sprinters take start on the command of the referee.

It all depends on what your definition of "Intentional" is old man...

And in case your Alzheimers is kicking in, I believe your elbow left your side as well. I was just acting in self defense. (-:

I'll even try to round up a buddy or two from lincoln for this one.

all I can say is sorry for the lack of Lincoln participation. maybe I'll try gettin enough people to come up for a whole lincoln team. wow, we'd be reallly easy to beat I'll bet...

happy new year guys

There's a handful of communtity mallets, 1pm, every Sunday. You'll pick it up faster than you think CVO.

Oh...and bring your sprinting legs. Tee-bone loves the fast break!

Watch out for T-Bones stiff arm. Hey isn't that "intentional"?

I guess I can't give Shim any more s**t about not scoring (in your face!). Man that was fun.

No, it was not Intentional. It was more instinct, plus I had the Right-of-way on the ball. IMO we all need to work in the Right-of-way rule. I don't mind the slow speed cutoffs but the high speed cutoffs are very dangerous.

I agree, you know when you've been intentionally hacked.
