Sunday's Epic

Here's the big secret. HArdcore Harlan & I rode out my front door at Saddle Creek & Leavenworth, and headed to big lake park in CB. From there, well, check out the map. The Yellow indicates the "detours" that we took, the red/black indicates Rusty's original recommended route, that we missed. Also a couple short yellow extensions where we missed a turn, or wanted to get in just one more hill :-). There's some nice long climbs, and a few short, real steep ones. Rusty's original route was mapped out to be 44mi from Big Lake Park. With detours, and riding from home, I'll bet we broke 60mi. Its a good 35-40mins from my place to Big Lake Park... total time out was 5:21. Lots of fun, and a lot of remembering that "that which does not kill me..." Thanks for the lead Rusty. And thanks to the sadistic MIB for figuring this out back in the day.

I kept thinkin, this must be just like a Wills ride. Except with lots of gears. Oh, and small wheels.

Glad you made it back. I keep thinking Roxz was going to call sometime after dark, to go look for you guys.

National Geographic's Topo software. It interfaces with the GPS. I haven't done the route with the GPS so the map is an "estimate" I guess.

Hey RF by the look of your map you should follow the rail line all the way to Honey creek. Then up the paved road (183) to Hitchcock.
Shims right, there is alot more paved now on the old route, once you get to the Hazel dell church it's paved or oil rocked all the way into CB except for a three block climb in town. Lets hook up and I'll show you the original route. It' easier than what you and Larry rode. But still fun.
