Back to Reality

As they say, the honeymoon's over. The trip to Tuscany was sweet bacon to say the least. 80-100k a day, 12-15% climbs, 50mph descents through switchbacks with vineyards and olive groves for a backdrop. OH....it was purdy goooooood.

Trek does it up right, you feel like a pro rider most of the time. When you get to your bike in the morning your bottles and full, tires are aired up, all you have to do is get on and ride. And then at the end of the day there's a cooler filled with Peroni, Moretti and Nastro Azzura. Kinda hard to come home...

Pcakes cruising up to the highest point in Chianti. 12-15% for 10km. Yes, I used the triple, try as I might to get to the top with a 39x25, ultimately I had to drop into the 30.

We had a cooking class one evening, Pcakes made the pasta dough. fresh...

Yep, good times!

Our guide Jake came up on us with this group of Italians (that's them on the wrong side of the road) on the first climb of the day. I jumped on and tried to hold their tempo. They were climbing in the big ring just pounding it out. I hung on till about 200m from the top. They all had 15 years on me, older that is, and were kicking my ass!

So what the hell has been going on here. Skinny D tries to kill himself, Showen gets a 2-niner and virtually no pics from ponca! let's go folks!
