Gave the Wednesday road ride a shot last night. Damn was it fast. I've never felt my glutes lactate up before but I guess there's a first time for everything. Hung on better than I thought though. Bridged a few gaps and maxed out the old heart rate.
The fun happened as we were cruising into town on the keystone. A momentary lapse of awareness left me flying into to a head on collosion with another guy. We connected hard rib to shoulder (my ribs) and I got flicked onto my back then got side swiped by GT. Totally my fault, I heard GT yell rider up but before I could react all I could see was sky, earth, sky. Landed flat on my back, smacked my helmet and ground through my jersey with both my phone and key chain. The other guy had about 60 pounds on me. I think I got the worst of it. GT got his saddle stuck up his ass somehow, a nice WTB enima. My rear wheel was so torqued it wouldn't even spin through the frame. Still trying to put the pieces together.
Anyway, my ribs are toast, thank god Annie still had some pain meds left over from her mishap last year. So yep, I'm offically "that guy". Gonna try and ride Manawa tonight, we'll see. Be careful, CVO's wrecked, now me, don't let the chain reaction keep reacting. And wear a helmet, I'm pretty sure I'd be dead if it wasn't for Giro, I hit HARD!

Dang dude, that sucks. Head on's are never good. I had one at Zorinski once and I think it was the worst crash I ever had. Another reason to stay on the dirt. Get better and don't take too many of them hydros or else you won't be able to poop:)
Dang Mark ! I'm glad your OK ? If you need anything let me know. ( I can't get drugs). Maybe triathlons are in your future. Theres not big groups of people on the bike !
Take care buddy !
Hope the ribs don't have a break, that will hurt for a while, but my doc says they heal the best.
I was riding back the Big Papio from Swanson Tuesday night. I'm tired and periodically looking at the front tire with my helmet light - kinda mezmerizing. Then I hear something to my left and saw somebody's foot as I fly by. That got my attention.
i still remember me and schlakes headon at platte. i refer to it as 'the kiss'. that hurt like a mother. broken helmets. broken glasses.
damn dude,
