Ton's folks out at Swanson last night. T-bone was workin' out all the bugs on the new Rig. Dale and crew were out. CC and Roxz showed Syd the lap. Had a nice little chat with Marc. Too many others to name. But tonight is gonna be perfect.

Pretty fun little trail. I'm jealous u guys have so many options up there. :)
We are fortunate to have government agencies providing access to available land, and a few hard working bikers building and maintaining the trails for the masses.
yeaaaah right...forgot...happy b-day ryan!!! cawn't make the ride tonight on accounta an ops meeting, but might join ya if you're headed to the burro!
Vic and Super D request Mexicana. I'm in for Lil Burro. Probably can't fit in much more than 3 laps. Too bad you missed the TNR Syd, nice to finally meet you face to face. Come up and ride anytime.
Dale and Martin pull off 80% of the trail work and instigate 99% of it. Thanks gents.
Don't forget your old boy Real Deal that has braggin rights to Sarpy Co.
He helped spearhead the development of Jewel and continually maintains it.
As for Swanson, same thing, he designed it, cut it in and has just opened a new loop in the east side of the park in the open area that is city approved and most folks are not even aware it exists yet.
Who knows? That section could even show up in Sat's race.
I'm sure everyone will be back out Friday to pre ride it (-:
Swanson and Jewell would not exist if it was not for the Real Deal.
Just wanted to give props to Deal and Dickey too. Those two guys don't instigate a lot of trail work, they just go do it themselves on their own time.
Props to Dale, Martin, Dicky and Real Deal for all the work on opening, desinging, and maintaining the trails in Omaha.
The last month or so I've been contacted by a couple Tranquility riders saying their kids need community hours to fulfill school requirements and they want to help trim the trail! One father/daughter put in a couple hours each already and another is making sure trailwork would count.
All this rain has put our club back on the spring schedule of mowing about every two weeks to stay on top of it at Tranquility. I think Swanson looks fine even though its been three or four weeks since the last trimming.
I think a well rounded mtb rider includes periodic trailwork at at least one trail s/he frequents. I recently added a folding tree saw in my camelbak as one of my standard tools.
If it doesn't kill you Dale, it will only make you stronger (-:
The Real Deal is just that.
Nobody has any clue how much that guy does. Not to mention the fact that he'll grind you into the dirt just trying to stay on his wheel.
I kind of wanted to check out the new loop at Swanson. Maybe I'll through on a easy gear and spin it out today.
Yea Kent, but would I rather be a stronger trailworker or bike rider? 8-)
Getting a trail up and running is very time intensive. I had a couple hundred hours into Tranquility the first year. I bet Deal has similar hours into Jewel and Dickey/Rusty into Manawa.
Hopefully, once you get some people interested in riding it regularly, you get a pool from which to grow trailworkers.
Jewel's nice because it takes more one-time building labor than reiterative maintenance labor. Unfortunately for me, Tranquility has a lot of praire grass, sunlight, and a damp creek thus requiring more ongoing maintenance labor.
But enough whining, each trail has its own personality and as Sydney pointed out, its great to have five good xc trail systems in the metro area to ride.
