Weekend Wetness

Other than a sweet Monday spin with the MWC crew at L&C the week has been pretty lame. Guess I got a road spin on Tuesday as well. Rain, rain and more rain. Ton going on this weekend.

Saturday: L&C (maybe) what's the rain date?

Sunday: KC Cup at Landahl

Shop time will keep me from racing L&C. Looking at the radar this morning and Landahl is getting rocked with rain now. At least there events are rain or shine. Is anyone else planning on headed south on Sunday??? Anne, T-bone, Charlie and myself are heading down. If someone (Kev?) has a van, I could probably get the trailer for the bikes so we could save some dough on gas.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Manawa Psycowpath is in jeopardy? I know LtD was out a week ago surveying the damage. I've heard a lot of rumors about gnarly mud pits and floating debris. Anyone? I imagine Tranq is ok as well as Swanson.

Swanson was good yesterday with a few spots to go around, but nice and tacky none-the-less...although that was before the evening and overnight storms.

I'm planning to check Manawa today or tomorrow. Will need to have a big trail day once it dries.

I don't think you can call Heartland events "rain or shine" considering they have two reschedules on the calendar already.

Larry, Greg, Leah, and I rode L&C last Thursday about 8 hrs after a 1" rain had stopped. 3 or 4 places with water on trail but otherwise rideable. ss's may want to drop a gear and standing on some hills may break traction.

Though forecasts can change by the hour, as of 13:30 Fri, weather.com has rain ending by midnight with it not picking up again till 15:00 Saturday. Talk about a window of opportunity! If this forecast is accurate, Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath will have a great race tomorrow!

I would suggest that someone from
Bike Way goes out tonight and check the conditions. I was there last night from 6:00 to 7:30 or so talking to Mike and watching it rain fairly hard. Not sure what they got last night but it could be pretty wet.

I say lets race even if it's a little wet, but if the long way to the bottom of Neverest is a mess leave it out. The downhill section over there could get dangerous during a race.

As for Sunday I could be talked into it if we don't race on Saturday, if we do I'm most likely out. I do plan on racing Crowder in 2 weeks. I already told Shim, MIB, and Deal that I would drive but if some of them don't go I'll have some room. I can take 6 with the trailer so even if they all went we would have room for a couple.

Unless otherwise specified, the rain date for this year's series is the next day, Sunday, starting at noon.

Always check in with the blogs and nebraskacyclingnews.com for final word, however.
