I Confess

I've been riding Swanson backwards on and off for a while. But before one of you thinks about how risky that is. I only do it in the early hours of the morning, and only when the parking lot is empty. I for one have been trying to talk RF into doing this for over a year. I'm glad to see it finally happen.

We only have 6 trails in the metro, 7 if you count Platte. Let's mix it up a little. Tranquillity was sweet this spring. Didn't play to my strengths, but I enjoyed it none the less.

It's the state championship for crying out load.

"Hey Lincoln guys, why don't you come up and try to hang with a bunch of locals at Swanson and win a state championship?" Lame.

That'd be like having the state championship at wilderness park. Do you really think an Omaha guy would win?

Running the race in reverse will level the playing field and open it up. It'll probably be the best race of the year. Throw in the potential of a little slimeyness, bound to be a good time.

Get yer speed on, it's race time.

I have never ridden Swanson backwards until Wednesday and I like it. That doesn't mean that I can fly through there and, yes it is very different but that is the sweetness of it! I actually had a few very close encounters with some trees and other obstacles that I have been riding around forever, never even noticing that they were there:)

I have done a lot of races out of State this year and the reason for that was not only to do as many races as possible.
I actually enjoy racing a course that I don't know. It gives me that extra little kick to go even harder.

Let's see if this works for the reversed Swanson course...

...if it ever stops raining, darn it!!!!

I don't think running it backwards will change the results that much.We will all have a extra lap to get the lines figured out. I've raced several races out of town and have managed to place well even without pre riding. It's a race, either try and stay ahead or try to catch the guy or gal in front of you

Any Chance of delaying the start 3-4 hours on Saturday?(If wet)
I think we should consider this as a option.
That way the people who don't race on Sundays can attend, and we can still have the ride on Sunday.

My vote for the State Championship is Platte, same # of laps as Swanson. We need a XC race here and Ponca. And do the Marathons as 3 or 6 hrs to get better attendance.

Also maybe 1 of the Marathons should be at Indian Caves in the Fall

indian caves is a mess of cobwebs and ruts right now, i highly suspect... but in theory i like your thinking kev.

Wow, I like the idea of it being in Norfolk! Of course, I'm a little biased though. :-)

Seriously, we had the State TT up here and would love to have more state championships in this area. The idea of having the Championships here (and off the beaten path) has merits.

Yeah, maybe a combined state championship at Branched Oak. MTB on Sat, RR on Sun, then we could have one them thar omnium thingy's or whatever they do at road events.

Well, well. Skinny meets fatty? There is peace in the world after all. Good thoughts, Mod.

Good thoughts, everyone. I'm going to save this post so that the Psycowpath Committee can discuss in the off season.
