TNR for this Thursday Aug 23 is going to be at Swanson park, for a final group ride before the last Psycowpath race. Meet 6pm and rollout 6:15pm. Good eats afterwards. Plan to ride the course backwards.
Running it backwards is a cute idea, however the course reall y wasn't designed to be run inthat direction, I've run it both ways many times, its just not as fun backwards, oh well the series hasn't really been too much about fun the past couple years any way, right? :)-
When is the make up date? 8/26? Forecast calls for rain tomorrow and Friday, lets hope not,but its not looking good. We'll need at least one full day for it to dry out.
the series would be funner if more people would show up and race. so since you've run it backwards so many times you should still have your homefeild advantage.
I don't ride Swanson much but I like the reverse direction better because it feels less known. I think it takes more energy clockwise because of the many square edge bumps. I suspect lap times are slower and require more energy. The bridge is more difficult because it is entered at an angle instead of straight on. And I have an even smaller success rate reversing the root of all evil hill.
I guess more or less fun depends on what is fun for you. I think clockwise Swanson is more challenging and that is more fun to me.
i used to ride swanson until someone started ruining the flow by closing fun technical trails with barbed wire and replacing them with crappy prarie trails. someone from thor needs to get the imba trail care crew out there before it gets any worse.
Forecast of as now is showing rain diminishing tomorrow afternoon, so there is a chance there would be sufficient dry time. Trail conditions will be evaluated tomorrow and updates posted on nebraskacyclingnews.com. I think we're all hoping Saturday will be a 'GO' ...
Not Sure what I am being implicated in....I posted but used my name as signature due to the fact that I was at work when posting and did not want to register at that time.
I am new to the MB racing scene and so was looking here for info as to what the current thought about whether Saturday was still on or not.
I have no opinion in regards to whether the race should be run forward or backward. I am just stoked to be able to finish the dang thing.
If you are looking for someone to do trailwork next year--or next for that matter--count me in!!! I have a little bit of weedeater and mowing experience that I would love to share along with equipment.
As I said above, not sure what I was being implicated in, but I can assure you that I have no malicious intent to a great community that I am proud to consider myself a beginner of.
Troy, you are fine. As for the race, only God knows right now, because if it keep raining like this, I don't know about the race... As for helping out with trail maintenance, you are ALWAYS welcome. So is everybody else. http://www.trailshaveourrespect.org/ Check out this website for more info. And Spiderman, if you are so unhappy about the trail then you should join us as well. That is the best way to get changes done!

prob a dumb question...but is the race going to be backwards or the regular direction?
I'm new to the area, and just got a new bike.. can anyone show up for the rides?
How is Swanson after Monday night?
Is it rideable now?
yep, rides are open to all.
I'm heading out tonight, if it doesn't rain this afternoon.
Anyone wants to join in we will be out around 5:30.
Rode there Wed AM. Some corners were still a tad slimey but should be really good in a few more hours if it doesn't rain any more.
Come on out and meet everyone geoff
I was wondering about the race being run backward, too. Anyone know? What's the plan?
welp, tonights ride is hosed. Darn, this is 2 weeks in a row that my one night a week i can ride has been rained out.
Hope this stuff lets up or we are going to have a sloppy race!
agreed on the need to know direction thing. Gotta know what gear to bring for the SS....
Time now 3:05pm on Wednesday.
Just came from Swanson at the end of the first storm. If it doesn't rain again today it will be ridable but slimey by about 6:00pm.
Between weedwacking and mowing today I witnessed 7 folks riding the course backwards....must have been the British 24hr MTB team on their way to Moab.
thanks for the update. I'll head out after work and give it a shot.
anyone else up for it, i'll be there between 5:30 and 6
The race WILL be run backwards this year.

We only have so many trails to race on, so we might as well mix it up slightly to keep it as fresh as possible. I don't see the harm personally.
Have you ever ridden Swanson at night backwards? Totally sweet.
Maybe a nightime race backwards would be in order in the future?
So how's it looking for the race Saturday? Is it a rain or shine type deal?
Would like some sort of an update so I may plan accordingly...
Thanks,
Troy

Geez thanks Mod like I care, oh I mean what a relief.
I never took time to post before, figured it would be complicated.
Turns out posting is not the complicated part.
