JUST CURIOUS . . .

Jewel is a very challenging trail and a blast to ride, but so very short. Is there a Phase II in the works for lengthening it? Is there sufficient acreage left in the park to do this?

The bike trail as it is now takes up about 90% of the usable space in Jewell Park. You may have noticed that the valley branches off to the West, but this area is supposedly off limits to us because of private property conflicts. I believe the only area with room for expansion is the Southeast area bordering the cemetary. I discussed options for improving that area at a meeting I requested with Mike Resetar and Steve Jarrett last fall. We seemed to have come to a consensus on a few things, but I haven't heard anything since. Mr. Jarrett may be the only one who knows what is actually "in the works."

The talk of adding a frisbee golf course in the park has further complicated matters. I'm still waiting for someone to explain how that's going to happen without cutting into the bike trail space.

I am going to find out the answers to some of these questions soon. stay tuned.

One property owner's land (parcel 010465693) actually splits the western valley from the rest of Jewel. There appears to be access to this western valley from S. Bellevue Blvd.

On the GIS, the western valley is actually labeled Jewel Park while what we call Jewel Park is labeled Bellevue.

Seems there was a deliberate decision to isolate the western valley from Jewel Park.

It would be interesting to hear the history on why this all came to be.
