Theiss Announces Come Back!

Local Cyclist and Past Motocross Legend Announces Come Back!

That's right, local motocross Legend Greg Theiss used R&R's annual Christmas Festival as the launching board to formally announce a return to the sport where he made his fortune in the 1970's. With the goal of recapturing the 450cc World Championships within two years. Theiss acknowledged that the battle back to the top wouldn't be easy and would require surgery to replace his ailing hip. "Yeah, I know I haven't put my leg over the saddle since Jimmy Carter was President and gas was 35 cents a gallon, and God knows I don't need the money, but their doing wonders with the plastic hips these days, and someone needs to shut these punks up."

Thiess who currently splits his time between his homes in Omaha and California is currently in negotiations with several major sponsors and rumor has it that ESPN Classics is interested in documenting the come back for an upcoming reality show. "Bill Evans, ESPN programming director said in a recent interview, "we had planned on offering Evel Knevel the part but then he kicked on us, Greg was the obvious next choice, he's almost as old as Evel".

While no official announcement has been made regarding Theiss's support team, insiders say, Mark "Mod" Savery has the inside track to handle suspension duties and drive the box truck, Steve "The Real Deal" Jarrett will be wrenching, and managing security and Greg "Shim"Shimonek, will be keeping track of Theiss's finances and publicity.

Ryan and Roxanne when asked how they felt about Theiss announcing his come back at their Christmas Party said, "uh, what, Theis was here, really?"

The stuff of legends -- or urban legends? Only time will tell.

While passing from the refrigerator deck to the food table, I was a fly on the kitchen wall and heard first-hand some of this breaking news.

Maybe there's something to this?
