Just weighed in tonight. Still holding strong at 168. So when is the deadline to be our lightest? Shoot for March? Or April?
Anyone else can join in. Buck a pound lost. Person who loses the most keeps their dollars and takes the others. Report in after every TNR? Sound good?
This is a mutual motivation game, people. If you are racing, even dropping 5 pounds will melt away valuable seconds on every climb you conquer. Just think of how different it is(not to mention how much more expensive) going from a 30 pound bike to a 25 pound bike. Even if you aren't racing, this game is great motivation to help shed that accumulating winter spare tire.
Join in, if you dare, to provide yourself and fellow cyclists with a healthy goal for which to compete.
Well, when I was at my fastest with training/racing, I was also my lightest at about 151 lbs. But that was when I was doing 4 and 5 hour rides every weekend - usually both days, interval sessions, and intense group rides. I was putting in anywhere from 10-20 hours on the bike a week. So, unlike now, I could eat anything and everything I wanted. Ah, those were the days.
Mainly I want to do this competition to motivate myself and others. After all, when is riding more ever a bad thing?
Riding is never a bad thing unless you can no longer feel your extremities, like New Year's. I'm just saying there isn't much weight to lose, this was after I hoped on the scale this morning and felt like a well stuffed holiday pig. I need to ride more regardless; the compition just makes it more fun!
Would the Trek store make a good place for the official weigh in? We could conjure up a spreadsheet with names and starting weight (and in Evie's case "I.N." for imaginary number") then have a column where each person lists their pounds lost.
Or we could all just go on the honor system.
Or we could all become contributors to this blog and post pictures of the scales we're on. No naked pics please.
In order for it to be official I say have it at the Trek store ASAP. We all use the same scale. I'm sure those cheap scales are not very accurate. Anyone have one that can measure body fat %?
Usually the scales that measure body fat % require you to create a user identity so it can run it's funky equation with regard to your height, age, and activity level. In other words, it's not very accurate either.
I say, good ol' pounds be the determiner of loss. Either that, or we'd need someone there who was an experienced skinfold caliper guru.
Better make sure everybody has standard clothing on. It'd be easy to rock jeans and two shirts for the initial weigh-in, but come back with bibs and a jersey for the final. That's a couple of pounds right there.
Went to the Trek store to get in on the weight in, maybe I should reconsider my goals…
I’m closer to racing Clydesdale than ever before, perhaps I should follow Tim’s strategy of hot wings, pizza, and beer I could get there by long before the first race of the year.

I'm in.
Munson, I don't see how you could win, you don't have anything to lose.
March 1
or
April 1, we could get RF a postage scale for April fools, so he can ask his question again.

I'm in.... and I'll post losses, but not my weight :)
Where is the official weigh-in?
What kind of pizza will there be at the weigh in?
No pizza silly ... beer and chicken wings, my place!

I say Trek Store Saturday night. Who's got the "official" scale? I'm in.
Oink! Oink!
Can I play too? :) I'm in.
I'll bring my digi-scale and donate it to the cause. That way I won't see the swings up and down, just the weekly progress.
I'll stop by the shop sometime Saturday to drop the scale off, then everyone can input their data on the spreadsheet I'm working on.
Let the game begin!

I'll pass, time to head north towards gravel.
