Believe it or not, spring is in the air.

As the temperatures warm up and we march into spring more bikes are making there way to the trails. It has been a long winter and everyone has the urge to get off of the roads and enjoy the many single track trails in the area.

When you get to the trail PLEASE take a minute and assess the trail conditions. Spring rains mean muddy trails and please do not ride muddy trails. Sure it looks cool to go home with you and your bike covered in mud, but it does a lot of damage to the trail. If we damage the trails too much we as a community have a lot of work to do, in maintaining these trails.

As a maintenance note, if there are down trees from winter and storms, proper trail etiquette is to go over the obstacle, not around. When you go around the obstacle you widen the trail and create new trails, not a good thing. Report down trees to trail leaders through the THOR website, then the proper maintenance can be done to sustain the trail system.

One last note, please do not do any trail work, modification, cutting of trees, or any alterations of the trail without talking to a THOR trail leader and/or the City Parks Departments as these groups work together to keep our parks and trails beautiful for all users.
