What is Vitalyte? It's an electrolyte replacement powder that's easy on the stomach and tastes awesome. I've been using it for about 5 years as a replacement for water during races and training. And because I know there are many weekend warriors out there who don't know what to drink or try to drink a more sugary beverage only to fall prey to gastro issues, I thought I'd try to help you out. I gave Vitalyte a call to see if they'd be interested in getting the word out amongst our little bike community here in the midwest. They're out of California so you can only order it online through their website, vitalyte.com and other outdoor retailers. They were very interested and didn't hesitate to send me a bunch of to-go packets for you all to try, as well as discount coupons. For more information, I suggest going to their website, vitalyte.com and click on hydration 101. It's pretty straight talk. Here's an excerpt:
"There was no sense in meddling with Mother Nature. She holds the formula on electrolyte balance and all Vitalyte™ did was take her lead. No unnecessary sugars, no empty calories, no artificial coloring, just an honest electrolyte replacement drink that literally mimics the blood’s concentration of sodium and potassium, the two electrolytes critical to metabolism and organ function. And because it’s a perfect match, Vitalyte is assimilated into the blood stream quickly and has since earned an insider reputation as an “oral IV.” Common sense and science have joined forces to deliver pure, optimum hydration. Drink up and drink often."
So look for the vitalyte samples in the goody bags that will be given out at race registration. Try it and see what it can do for you. See you on race day!
