Tranquility Thief Caught

I received this email and replied back that I would pass it on. If you or someone you know has had their vehicle broken into at Tranquility, this may be the perp.

Hi, my name is Corey and I was contacting you in regards to a car theif that broke into my vehicle Sunday May 18 [28?]. While riding on the trails I heard my car alarm going off and when I returned to my truck a short heavy black man in a red 85 Chevy had broken into my truck and was filling his vehicle with my belongings. He saw me and immediately took off in his vehicle. I was able to catch him with my truck and subdue him until police arrived. While taking some video footage of the lot today I noticed another broken window in the lot. When I first arrived Sunday their was a green and silver outback station wagon with a rack on top which I'm guessing was the other victim. I wanted to check with you guys to see if anyone else has had this problem or knew the person that owned the Outback. The theifs name is Corey "Durke" Daily and his truck was filled with numerous items from different cars and stores. I drive a silver Blazer and ride an old k2 proflex and am usually on the trail a couple times a week. If you were aware of any other thefts contact the police while he is in custody. The trails are amazing and please send me some imformation on where I can donate. Thanks, Corey [last name withheld by Dale]

Good job Corey. I have heard too many stories lately about people getting their windows smashed in when they are biking. Hopefully it will stop now.

A couple friends had their cars jacked into last year at Tranquility. That sucked. I seem to remember seeing two white, younger guys coming out of the trail carrying big duffel bags before we started our ride. It seemed odd, but didn't hit us to what they were probably up to until after the damage was done. There were some baseball/softball games going on in the area, so I wonder if that was the original score - and then they saw us pull up as they were leaving. They drove off before we hit the trail, but must have come back after we were out of site. There were two cars. I remember one of the cars was kind of green, but can't remember the make or the other car.

I'm super curious how you "subdue" someone with a truck. :D

I am glad that one of these guys finally got caught. I have been a victim in the past as well as a couple of my friends. I am a police officer and see people get ripped off every day, the thieves mostly they get away with it. It's good to see a thief get caught, Again, Job well done!
