Today the group headed to Moab. We rode Babysteps (see the latest edition of Bike magazine for more info). We rode it last year but since then about 10 new miles were added. Folks, this was a good time. Started at Klondike's Bluff riding slick rock fields that switched to jeep roads taking us through the widest open valleys that were lush and green, surprisingly. We chased off some baby calfs along the way. We wound back up some power climbing hills and to our joy we then descended awesome rocky, slickrock (think porcupine rim w/o the drops) and then after some navigational corrections, we actually got to the single track we rode last year.
Total miles about 17ish. Took about 6 hours but could be shorter as there are a couple of loops to choose from but we did them all. This is a must. It has all that Moab riding has to offer w/o the hairy technical stuff.
Food was at the Moab Brewery (too tired to seek out something more quaint). Day ended watching the cliffs turn firey red across from the porch I'm purched on.
Tomorrow. Porcupine Rim
