Tonight's Chica Ride

My apologies for the last minute post about tonight's ride, but I have been out of town. If you can, join me at Swanson Park in Bellevue, 6pm in the parking lot. Some of us talked about riding Platte River State Park this week, but the trails will be in better condition after this week's scheduled trail maintenance. I can't wait to ride my bike, it feels like I haven't been on it forever!

I'm going to come out tonight for the first time and I've just started going on the trails. Will there be other beginners? I don't want to keep anyone behind!

No riders left behind! I look forward to meeting you, see you later

Okay, so it's pretty clear what the 'Chica' ride is. Also, helpfully, the 'Bacon' ride has a link to an explanation. However, what is the 'BMCC' ride? Is the 'TNR' ride the Taco thing? If anyone has a moment, I'd appreciate some help with the acronyms.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
~Chris

The club rides are opened to everyone so consider checking them out!

Hey lynden, how did you do over the log crossings and roots at Swanson?

One thing to remember about your bovine CYCLING COMMUNITY, you have no Downhill, freeride or dirt jump parks in the entire state. Bikers on the trails are rude unless you have spandex a fancy jersey and are part of the philistine teams. I sent THOR a check and they didn't even bother to say thanks. Bike shops sell over inflated rides that arent even needed for the terrain. Nebraska biking is all about high dollar bikes and how many you own. The trails are mundane and used to lure unsuspecting new riders into buying bikes they dont need. Crime, Segregation, filth and heartless magnates clutter and destroy the land. XC and road biking is all you have which is why the others don't exist. Not to be slanderous it's just something you wouldn't understand. It's so good to be gone.

hmm, i really don't know where you rode around here but i'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.

We have Nate's Skill Park in Fort Calhoun for your free ride fun.

We have the new bmx track in Omaha and also the track in Crescent.

As far as rude people...they are anywhere you go. I rode my old pos in a tshirt and baggies and made many great cycling friends. Possibly the attitude you put out is what you recieve back.

I talk to everyone i see on the trails, cheer on strangers that are struggling to clear something and just generally have fun.

I'll just keep enjoying what we have to ride here, i'm sure there are places that don't have it have as good.

Enjoy your ride!

I sense a little angst from Corey. Glad you like your Boise digs, I read it has some great xc trails. It's amazing what can be done living off government (subsidies) land, which I think owns over 90% of Idaho.

Much of what you say is true, it all depends on your perspective. I ride a rigid ss and think that is all you need around here, probably around your place too. But I don't piss on someone who wants more, or thinks they need more bike than I do. Not everyone is after the same experience as you or me.

THOR has dropped the ball on communicating with its members. I think we are getting a structure in place to improve that. Bottom line, if you weren't being communicated with, instead of pissing and moaning, why not help in that role?

Spandex guys, baggie shorts, etc., all have people in it for own purposes and not interested in greeting everyone on the trail. Guessing that you couldn't find other people of your perspective, or that wanted to put up with you.

We can't change the topography of the land, so not much downhill. The dirt jump parks, etc, all take volunteers and donated money. Why didn't you do something about that when you were here instead of just going where others have already done the work for you?

As you may have noticed, I have said much of what you did and then added a smart*ss response to the end of each.

Have to say that if this is how you communicate with others, I'm glad you're gone to. I don't mean to be slanderous, but you wouldn't understand.

I apologize for my little tirade.

It should be about enjoying the ride no matter where one finds themself. It's also about being part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Find something you are passionate about and make a difference for the better. Finding a small group of guys and gals you like to hang out with is fundamental to enjoy this ride we call life.

Bitterness can be consuming. Forgive those who have wronged you, or you will become a slave to the thought of them.

Dale-
The only vines/branches that make me nervous at Swanson are the ones at the top of that first steep hill. Other than that part, I do fine! I am getting better at logs also. Have I met you? I am bad at names/remembering.
ps. kudos to your response to corey.

lynden, I think you were out to Tranquility with Robert last Monday. I called my daughter to come ride with you.

Good to hear about your skills improving.

Come on……Bovine, philistine, mundane and magnates were used to rile you up but looks like it failed, one of the great qualities of the cycling community in Omaha. Actually, I just wanted to say thanks for allowing me to use the trails around the area the last two years. If it wasn’t for them my passion of riding would have never returned and my bovine body would have gotten the best of me. Never really had a chance to meet anyone due to my schedule and usually rode before sunrise or after sunset. Thanks again and keep up the great work on the trails.
