The Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge will open two months ahead of schedule !
In partnership with this year's final Playing with Fire Concert at Omaha's Lewis and Clark Landings, the public is invited to the official lighting of the bridge followed by a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday, September 13, 2008. The free concert begins at 4:30 and the lighting and fireworks will occur around 9 p.m.
The official opening of the bridge, will be announced in the near future and is likely to occur in late September. In preparation for the opening, city officials are planning a ribbon cutting ceremony and a afternoon of family oriented events at Council Bluff's Playland Park.
The 3,000 foot long bridge is the nation's only pedestrian bridge linking two states ! The plaza on the Omaha side of the river is scheduled to be completed spring of 2009.
