Polo News Black Knights Win Again.
The conditions were perfect for Polo at the Swanson Polo Grounds today. The first official game of the season found the Black Knights continuing where they left off last year with an early season victory. Even after being outnumbered for the majority of the game, a short handed goal scored at 2:59 p.m. secured the victory. The fun continues next week at 1:00 pm. Remember Bike Polo is the most fun you can have with your clothes on (so T-Bone please leave your clothes on next week).

Who's ready for some bike polo?
Friday night game. 6pm till dark at Swanson.
Sunday afternoon game. 1pm-3pm at Swanson.
Please bring:
1 black shirt
1 white shirt
1 beater bike that can take a little abuse
Bike polo is sometimes a contact sport so you may get bumped and bruised. Your bike may also get bumped and bruised. Look for us either on the lower fields (baseball diamonds) or on the upper field back by the trailhead. Everyone is welcome to come and give it a try, I have enough polo mallets for everyone. Don't forget the 1/2 time and post game drinks.

POLO!?!?!???
Are we able to play Polo????
Martin rode @ Swanson yesterday and he said he still couldn't ride over the Polo field. Too much snow, too dense....
Are you going out to give it a try?

GRAVEL OPTION / POLO SUNDAY
There is a small group of guys riding from Shims house Thursday night. Feel free to join us.Try and meet before 6 so we can roll out shortly after. Cross bikes preferred, but a MTB will work for a 1 1/2 hour gravel loop. Fell free to meet up on Capehart. Will be heading West on Capehart from 48th around 6:15 and ride past HWY 31. Charge your lights!
Also we're trying to get at least 6 people to play Polo Sunday at Swanson at 1:00.
Who's ready? Sounds like we need a few new polo balls, I'll get one to donate, feel free to bring one to throw in the bag, hopefully we can make this a regular thing again like a few years back. Please comment if you think you can make it Sunday.

Polo or Gravel, That is the Question?
OK, so we got more snow today, so the question becomes, is polo realistic or do we opt for the gravel? Kevin and I did the gravel road ride today and well, yeah it was slick in parts, but you know what? We were still outside and it beat the hell out of the two hours I spent on the trainer Friday. Cross bikes will be the order of the day (if we do gravel). So, unless I hear from someone who says that polo is on, we can meet at my house at 12:45 ish and hit the gravel. The road starts only a block from here, and the route we did today was a nice loop with only two blocks of road riding. Plan on a minimum of two hours, this could vary depending on who shows up, remember this is December so this will be a no drop ride. If you feel the need for the half time beer you can drink one in my drive way once we get back, Kevin usually has a minimum of a case in his car. So, whose in?

You've got 9 hours and 15 minutes...
...of daylight each day to enjoy the weekend. Yep, not much to talk about other than the weather. Did anyone ride last night? AJB came by the store, said his fingers almost fell off the other morning riding in to work. But the warm up is beginning. Highs in the 50's!!! I'm 90% on polo this week. Although I have to be honest, I'm kind of waiting for the snow to play. Polo is just that much sweeter in the white stuff. But, the Snow Rig is ready to roll in mega traction mode so I might as well give it a go on a barren field. T-bone picked up his fixie wheel for the Kona so you almost have to show up just to see how many times he forgets that he can't stop pedaling.
So what's the ride schedule? Anyone going out tomorrow? Me, I gotta hook up parents with sweet bikes for their kids, but Sunday...Jim was talking about a CX bike ride finishing up at the polo field. Or, maybe meet early at Swanson for a couple laps before the match? What are you feeling?

Polo Polo
Polo was sweet bacon today. Some of the best play I think I've seen. Tons of spills. Frank hit the dirt super hard once. I broke out a front spoke. Martin got his mallet stuck in his front wheel and flipped himself over the bars in a fit of Laughter. CC got the ball stuck in her frame and almost scored by riding through the goal. And I nailed Shim in head with a line drive. It was a good day.

Autumn is here...officially
Once again you'll be able to pick your poison this fall with tons of riding options. Starting with Bike Polo. Got this from the Grumby Old Biker...
Hello Everyone
Its that time of year, POLO TIME. We will start on Sunday the 25th at Swanson Park in Bellevue. I know I was telling everyone Semore Smith but I ran into a problem there. So we are back to Swanson for now. 1:00 till 3:00 come on out and have a good time.
We will see you there. ~Grumpy Old Biker
...Also, looks like Rusty and the usuall suspects will be hitting the log ride session at Manawawa starting soon. 1:00 on sundays was the proposed time. So keep your ears peeled.
And......so many peeps were asking about the Bacon Ride, if interest is high I'll keep it rolling through the fall we'll just start it a bit later so we aren't riding in the dark. Cuz it's always darkest before the dawn. Breakfast buffet and horseback rides end October 3rd. Some folks were talking about meeting post ride at Around the Bend for lunch. Thoughts?
So we've got a full calender for fall riding. Here's the quick listing
Sundays - Bacon Ride 9am, Lunch at Around the Bend Noon?
OR Bike Polo 1pm
OR Log Rides 1pm
Monday - Chica Ride 6:15pm
Thursday - BBC Thursday night ride 6:15pm
And don't forget about the THOR fundraiser at Platte River State Park in conjuntion with the Platte River Riot MTB race, October 29th. Tons of stuff going on that weekend. Word around town is that Fisher pro Cameron Chambers and Trek pro Travis Brown will be in attendance as well as some of Fishers pro dirt jump riders doing a demo. Food, Fun and Bikes, can't be all that bad.
Keep the rubber side down, see ya on the trails. ~MOD

TNR: Making the call
Last chance before more snow. Long range forecast says Snow on Saturday. I'm calling out a Swanson TNR so we can all hit up the new trails and burn'em in nice and good like. Might actually feel kinda warm with a high of 43, but it cools off quick and with sunset being about five o'clock, well, you know where I'm heading with this. You know the drill. Meet @ 6, Ride @ 6:15. Did a lap with Radical Rick on Sunday, his computer said 5.2 miles per lap, pretty good little loop.
So let's see, snow on Saturday, good'ole Jim Flowers mentioned a potential 5 inches! That means one of two things Sunday, POLO or Skinny Ski's, or maybe both! T-bone's got the polo gear, I think he's been trying to get a group to meet around one o'clock. This might just be the week. I might have to bust out the snow wheels.
If you're sitting in front of the TV tonight around 8, click over to the weather channel, they're suppose to have a blip on winter cycling commuting.
On a long range note. Get out the 2008 planner and pencil in Labor Day weekend for the the Dakota Five-O. Rode a couple laps with the Professor the other week and it sounds like the Goatheads are in. The Minneapolis mafia had a huge group up there this last year but I think the Lincoln/Omaha crew was close behind. I'd like to take'em in 2008.

Weekend assortment
If racings in your bag you've got some options this weekend. As Syd has posted below, there's some rural CX racin' in Lincorn/Bennet region. A good time I'm sure.
If staying closer to home is more your style, swing out to Bike Masters around 11ish for the noon start of Cranksgiving. Bryan's got it all set. I don't know that area of town at all so it's bound to be a big adventure for this mid-town kid. See you out there.
Or...Catch some Polo on Sunday.
