Thanks Dale. Good story. My first ever mountain bike ride in Moab was on an 18 speed fully rigid 1987 Jamis. And I still vividly remember the pain and loved every minute of it. You the man, and I will be the first to admit, I thought you wouldn't pull it off. I was wrong. Congrats.
It probably helped being my first Fruita/Moab experience, and I've been riding only rigid for the last year and a half. If I had tasted those rocks before with full squish, my FR (fix rigid, not freeride) sucess may have been more doubtful.
I now understand a little bit better what those self supported endurance races are like out there. That wipes out any fantacy of participating in one of those multiday events for now.
